Sa Bom Nim Jack Kelly’s martial art journey started on April 1982, he was 15 years old. Kyo Sa Nim Jeff Goodwin was his
Tang Soo Do instructor at Saint Paul’s Highland Park High School, where Sa Bom Nim Jack Kelly enrolled. Only a few months
later, Highland Park Tang Soo Do closed and then he attended classes at the Regional Headquarters on Hamline & Randolph.
Regional Headquarters was later shut down. Twin Cities Tang Soo Do moved to various locations in the Twin Cities including
Hudson WI, Mounds Park, Minnetonka, Champlin at Ben Mickle’s house, St. Paul off 7th St. at Jack Smosal’s house, West St.
Paul, a lumber warehouse in North Minneapolis, Highland Park (in the park), and the St. Paul Police Southwest station on
Hamline. He tested for Cho Dan in the Spring of 1985 in Waterloo, Iowa.
In 1989, Sa Bom Nim Kelly moved due to employment. He returned to St. Paul after gaining employment in the Twin Cities
April of 1990. He started training under Kyo Sa Nim Ellenbecker in 1990. Sa Bom Nim Jack Kelly tested for E Dan and Kyo
Sa in the Fall of 1993 at Seiberlich, Sa Bom Nim’s cabin. Hwang, Sa Bom Nim attended this test. Ellenbecker, Kyo Sa Nim
was now a Sam Dan. Sa Bom Nim Jack Kelly continued to assist Kyo Sa Nim Ellenbecker with teaching at Linwood Recreation
Center. Sa Bom Nim Kelly took over as Chief Instructor of Linwood Tang Soo Do. November 9, 1994 he opened Highland Park
Tang Soo Do at Hillcrest Recreation Center. Shortly after, he turned the Linwood School over to Sa Bom Nim Mike Kelly.
In 1996 Sa Bom Nim Seiberlich became his instructor and he tested for his Sam Dan and was promoted. Sa Bom Nim Kelly
attended the 2000 Ko Dan Ja Shim Sa in Carbondale, Colorado. He was promoted to Sa Dan and Sa Bom. In 2002 he was asked
to serve as a Regional Examiner. January 2005 he attended the Ko Dan Ja Shim Sa in Ramona, California where he tested and
was promoted to O Dan.
In 2010 he attended the Ko Dan Ja Shim Sa in Ramona, California where he tested and was promoted to Yuk Dan (6th Dan).
Sa Bom Nim Jack Kelly continues to train under his instructor Sa Bom Nim Seiberlich who is a Gu Dan (9th Dan).
